Happy Memories That Tell A Story

It’s that time of year when spring is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing – tidy up time.

Last weekend the sun was shining and so unfortunately this made the house look a bit grotty and I could see layers of dust that really shouldn’t be there. Therefore I made the decision that spring had arrived early in our home and it was time to start the annual clean.

It all began with all good intentions of me cleaning the house from top to bottom. Our kitchen was first on the hit list and because that took longer than I thought, I was already starting to feel weary. However I ploughed on and next on the list of rooms to tidy up was our Utility room. This is one of those rooms in our house that we seem to dump everything and then just pull the door shut. I hadn’t been working long when I stumbled across a load of Cheap Books that my mum had given to me. This set me off on a lovely trip down memory lane and that was the end of my cleaning for the day.

My mum was a real book addict and she was always happiest when she had a cup of tea in one hand and a book in the other. She didn’t really mind what she read it could be anything ranging from Fiction Books, romance books and she even owned a few Cook Books. It’s still a bit of a puzzle why she had so many cook books because if my memory serves me right, she was never really that adventurous with her cookery. Perhaps she just enjoyed looking at all the pictures!

It’s funny because I suddenly remembered a holiday we had all gone on together to Lanzarote. In my cases I had of course packed all I needed for a summer holiday including bikines, towels for the beach and of course sun tan lotion. When mum unpacked her case I was amazed as it was full of books. She must have had at least 10 with her. We were only away for 2 weeks so I thought it was hilarious. Mind you she had the last laugh as she enjoyed sunbathing around the pool reading her books and she got a fantastic suntan.

The spring cleaning didn’t really go the way I had planned, but then you know what it can be like sometimes when you get distracted and when cleaning is involved, I can’t say that I really mind.
